Here at The Nourished Life, it’s not about doing it all right - because no one can! It’s about learning what you need to know to live a more nourished life, taking bite-sized steps on this amazing journey down the road of nourishment. After all, it’s not just about reaching a destination - it’s about all the incredible experiences you have along the way.
About Me
My name is Elizabeth Walling, and I have a passion for finding nourishment in life through food. I believe healthy, nourishing meals are today's missing link - without nourishment our bodies and minds can’t function at their best. It can be really hard to find meaning in life and become who you want to be without nourishment from real food. I know this from personal experience.
Like many people, my journey to health began with the best of intentions, but I was on the wrong path: a path filled with vegetable oils, tofu and skim milk. A path which I discovered to be strewn with misery, self-doubt and anger.
But this all began to change in 2008 when I discovered eating more natural fats is actually healthy. Then I found Nourishing Traditions
Because all of this changed my life in such a profound and positive way, I want to get this information out to others, in hopes that it will have a positive effect on their lives, too.
So I began The Nourished Life. My goal for this blog is to provide a friendly, accessible source of information about nourishing foods: what they are, how to get them, how to make simple changes, learning to heal yourself with real food.
Even more, I want to remind people that finding nourishment through food is a journey. None of us is perfect at it, and we shouldn’t strive to be. Finding real food can be a joyous, exciting experience if you don’t allow yourself to be overwhelmed by what you can’t do or what you think you should be doing. Keep it simple, keep a light heart and expect great things to happen as you make positive improvements!
More About Me
I live in the beautiful rural mountains of northern Alabama with my husband of seven years, our 6-year-old daughter and our 4-year-old son.
We are animal lovers by nature, so our family also includes pigs, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs - by some standards this sounds like a small farm, but I just consider it an essential piece of who I am. Surrounding myself with natural life helps me feel grounded in today's harried world.
Professionally I am a freelance writer, but I am committing more and more time to this blog. It’s certainly not as lucrative from a financial stand-point, but it’s something I truly love doing. It combines three great loves in my life: writing, nutrition and helping others.
I am also working toward becoming a health and wellness within the next year, because I would like to be able to offer personal consultations and reach out even more to people who need help in this area.
