Coconut Oil Skin Recipes: 40+ Ideas You’ll Want to Try

Top 41 Coconut Oil Skin Recipes (mascara, body polish, shaving cream, lotion bars and more) - at livingthenourishedlife

Ready to learn more about coconut oil for skin that’s healthy and nourished?

Coconut oil is one of my favorite skincare products, probably because my skin just seems to love it. My face in particular is incredibly picky about what I put on it, but it gets along just fine with coconut oil. It even gets along with my acne prone skin (read more about coconut oil and acne here).

So, although coconut oil has many uses, skincare is near the top of my list (right under my coconut oil fudge).

What’s so special about coconut oil?

The unique medium chain fatty acids in coconut oil have anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties, and they also serve as antioxidants which protect your skin. So coconut oil is essentially food for your skin!

But I’m not the only one who loves using coconut oil for my skin. Below are some of my favorite coconut oil skin recipes from this blog and many others. Try one out today!

PS: A lot of these recipes use essential oils. Learn where I shop for high quality therapeutic essential oils online.

  1. This is fabulous. You not only tell us what but HOW. That’s what we always want! Thank you so much for sharing this.

  2. Thank you for compiling these recipes together! I’m especially excited to try some of the lotions/creams. I bought some local beeswax a couple months ago to try and make my own mascara, but haven’t gotten around to it yet..

  3. Wow. I just happened upon this website because I am a huge fan of coconut oil but didn’t know how to make any organic coconut oil products that were inexpensive and non-toxic. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you sooooo much!!

  4. Cant wait to give these a try! Where do you get all of these recipes from? Id like to experiment with my own too. Im just confused about where to start. What is the expiration date on these?

  5. This is wonderful!! Thank you! I have been using the deoderant for about a year and it works the best. Want to make some of these for Christmas gifts. Thanks again!

  6. Hi, I would love to make something, this would be my first time ever doing it, so I don’t have anything any supplies and I would like to know, what should I get first? what do you reckon to get, the basic? the stuff that I would use a lot? I don’t know, I need some guidance please!!

  7. Hi- I was wondering if you could substitute the sea salt with Epsom salt for the scrub? I made a scrub when I was pregnant the was olive oil, Epsom salt and sugar (2 pregnancies and no stretch marks 😉 but this one sounds like it would be even better !!

  8. The body butter looks like something my mom would use. I always knew there were a lot of uses for coconuts but when I see them listed like this it still blows my mind!

  9. I followed the instructions for the body butter and used twice as much orange essential oil but all I can smell is the coconut how much oil would be too much?
    Thanks!

    I just made my first batch using only 1 cup of coconut oil (nothing else). I found on Pintrest. My batch produced 1 1/2 jars worth of whipped body butter. I used the Ball glass 4 oz jam jars. So far, I’ve applied the whipped butter on my arms and hands and noticed that my arms are silky smooth just after one application! I am very hopeful that this will help alleviate my dry skin. =}

  11. […] There are tons of articles out there that talk about how great coconut oil is for a person’s skin and their overall health. However, I never really knew exactly how to use it. I didn’t want to just smear it all over my skin or put a bunch of it in my hair. I’m going to try some of these coconut oil skin recipes. I’m especially looking forward to using them during this harsh winter. It’s very easy for a person’s skin to get dry here in Minnesota. I’m glad that I will be able to use natural products since I’m always concerned about the damage done by harsh chemicals in many personal care products. Click here to read full article […]

  12. This winter’s been very rough on my skin, but ive been using the somaluxe argan oil has helped immensely. Its for hair and skin and you can use it on your face – thank god for this. It smells so good and doesnt leave me greasy.

  14. I’m a total convert to Made From Earth skin care products. For years I was seduced by the belief the more money I spent the better results I’d get… Wrong! I tweet about High Street fashion & beauty so Made From Earth products caught my eye about a year ago and now I’m a total convert. I have noticed a massive difference to my skin /lips /body and my bank balance as they are brilliantly affordable but seem to use very good ingredients
